Review of Touching the Void (2003) by Walter M — 02 Jan 2005
[font=Century Gothic][color=deepskyblue] So, the next time, anybody tells you that all documentaries are boring, take them to the top of a mountain and make them watch "Touching the Void."(Actually, there are plenty of other documentaries that are not boring but that's a post for another day.
..) I don't know if "Touching the Void" actually qualifies as a documentary per se - it is a combination of talking head footage and reconstruction of a climb of a Peruvian mountain in 1985 by two friends.
Now, considering that both friends are still alive, we know they both survived the climb and descent, but what makes this an amazingly suspsenseful film, is wondering and seeing exactly how they made it back down the mountain alive.
