Review of Touching the Void (2003) by Jens S — 11 May 2007
This documentary about a failed attempt to climb down a peruvian mountain suffers from one big problem: both mountaineers tell the tale, so you know it ends well. The mix of them telling the events and impressive reinacted scenes entertains anyhow, some parts are almost unbearable in their realism, when you can almost feel the cold and height.
The story itself is almost unbelievable, a classic tale of mind over matter and never giving up.
