Review of Touching the Void (2003) by Tony E — 22 Apr 2008
This is a stunning accomplishment in documentary filmmaking. It tells the story of two young climbers' harrowing adventure climbing a particularly tough Andean peak. I was initially wary of it because it contains a lot of re-enacted footage, but in fact the footage is gorgeous and integral to telling the story.
Really a great fiim. Producer Paul Trijbits went on to make the fascinating Deep Water, also highly recommended.
