Review of Touching the Void (2003) by Sauli J — 14 May 2008
OK, OK, I get it: it is an amazing story of survival, but the movie is drawn out, depressing, and the end sucked. After Joe gets hurt, the whole movie is basically just watching the poor guy fall down the mountain.
And then when he finally makes it down to safety, all we see is him riding out on a horse... COME ON! the movie makers should have cut the trek down the mountain to a third of what it is, then add more about Joe's recovery in the hospital and the world's reactions to Simon's choice to cut the rope.
