Review of Touch of Evil (1958) by Manny C — 10 Aug 2008
It came a little late in the film noir genre, but there's no denying the power and magic of Orson Welles crime classic. Charlton Heston shines in his best role yet (so good you can nearly forgive him being cast as a Mexican) and Janet Leigh and a riveting cameo from Marlene Dietrich help make this one for the time capsule.
But it's Welles show, and as always he steals it gleefully as the crooked cop. Killer scene: the opening shot that is three minutes of a car pulling into the border, all in one take!
