Review of Touch of Evil (1958) by James-Masaki R — 18 May 2011
For years it was Welles' most misunderstood film, but after the 1998 reconstruction, we finally figured out why it was so good. Shows you the power of editing. Although the movie featured the Welles standards, the innovation in, with the sound design, the handheld scenes, the incredible opening shot, and many other things we take for granted in movies today.
Although I think as with a lot of other film noir, the intricate and confusing plot gets in the way, as you must watch very carefully. That may be the only part that doesn't balance out for me. Or with Charlton Heston playing a Mexican.
