Review of Touch of Evil (1958) by Seth R — 03 Jun 2013
Take a pulp fiction novel but put it in the hants of Orson Welles, put back in the directors chair Under the pressure of leading man Charlton heston, Add Janet Leigh as a spunky wife kidnapping victim and a dense plot of mexican drugs and framing, with Marlene Dietrich as a dark bordello madame/ fortuneteller as the cherry, then a score by Henry Mancini, and this elevates film noir to the fantasy everyone dreams it should always be.
Its finest specimen, along with elevator to the gallows.
