Review of Total Recall (2012) by Kevin O — 26 May 2013
First complaint, other than name recognition, why was this called "Total Recall". There were a few character names repeated but beyond that this is almost a completely different story. Either way, this would have still been a very impressive visually, but extremely boring plot wise and acting wise.
The always good Bryan Cranston and Bill Nighy are excused because their scren time is minimal, and when they are on screen, the movie does get much better. The only person with significant screentime that gave a good performance was Kate Beckinsale and even she didnt fully shine until her true identity was revealed.
Save your money and watch the original. It may seem dated but it is an overall better film and definitely more fun of a watch. Never thought I would say this but Farrell made me miss the acting nuances of Arnold.
