Review of Total Recall (2012) by Leonard E — 23 Nov 2013
It's sad when the best parts about a movie are the fanservice elements they put in for fans of the *original* version. For example - I loved the re-creation of the Blade Runner city, some music elements from the original film, and of course, the three-breasted woman.
But not since Star Wars Ep I have I seen filmmakers so completely out of touch with what made their original hit a success. The effects are great (even with the Lens-Flare style stolen from JJ Abrams), and even the acting isn't bad.
The story just isn't told well. You don't care about anyone, and you're basically waiting for the movie to end. Watch when it's free on Netflix if you want to see stuff blow up. Otherwise, watch the *much* smarter original.
PKD is rolling in his grave on this one. Grade D.
