Review of Total Recall (2012) by Toni W — 01 Mar 2015
I enjoyed watching this a lot more than the original, which admittedly I only saw for the first time recently so (not surprisingly) the Sci Fi relevance of the original film seemed somewhat dated. I enjoyed Colin Farrell's performance in this version and found his confusion at the misplaced memories convincing.
The visual references to the original were at times amusing - the three breasted woman's cameo and the identity changing necklace. The distopic London/Sydney futurescapes were a visual feast, as were the eye candy main players in this adventure romp.
I would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't already known the plot outline from the previous version. I thought there was a lot of original imagery in this film and I'm quite surprised that it scores so low on the tomatometer.
I think I could happily sit and watch this again in 12 months time!
