Too dull by half, and far too po-faced for its own good, whereas the original just about got by on its garish neon vibrancy and campy humour. Also has a tendency to trawl out endless references to and stylistic traits of earlier (and generally superior) sci-fi efforts which doesn't do this 're-boot' any favours in the long run.
Perhaps more ingratiatingly, this "Total Recall" doesn't attempt to get any more thought or cohesion out of the Philip K. Dick source material than Verhoeven's dunderheaded Arnie vehicle.
