Review of Total Recall (1990) by Alvin Y — 28 Dec 2012
"Total Recall" is a spine tingling sci-fi with non-stop action and a host of despicable villains and strange mutant creatures. Douglas Quaid (Arnold Schwarzenegger) is plagued with recurring nightmares of the planet Mars and haunted by memories of a dark haired woman he doesn't remember.
He has never been to Mars. Visiting 'Rekall' for a virtual reality trip to the planet, a memory chip is found and Quaid discovers his past and memories have been altered to conceal a plot to dominate the Red Planet.
Amidst stunning special effects, Quaid is off to Mars to discover his true identity and the one responsible for planting the chip. Directed by Paul Verhoeven, this is a very violent film, with a high body count and plenty of blood and gore but the story is fascinating and extremely exciting.
Schwarzenegger was made for a film like this...he is perfect for the role of Douglas Quaid...Rachel Ticotin and Sharon Stone are part of the very athletic and excellent supporting cast. Outstanding special effects throughout the film make this one a must see for all sci-fan fans.
And now I'm ready to see the remake now!
