Review of Torrente: The Dumb Arm of the Law (1998) by Florence . — 14 Sep 2010
This movie is hilarious, every scene is funny as hell and the main character portrayed by Santiago Segura is just sick, takes no apologies for his actions and no regards for peoples opinions.
Torrente is a drunk, fat, bold, cheesy, dirty, corrupt banned from police ex cop, who makes himself pass for a still active duty officer to "enforce" the law among his fellow citizens in Spain. Somehow he manages to resolve a gran scheme crime of drug traffic, while bending and breaking the law in between, with his sidekick team of losers.
To viewers in America the cultural translate may be a little harsh but if you're open to it, this movie will surely become a big favorite for comedy lovers. So much better than many cop out style of holywoodesque movies with stupid sidekick characters that are not nearly as fun in one and a half hour as this movie in ten minutes...
