TORN CURTAIN was a regression for Hitchcock, but luckily he didn't end on this sour note. Starring the improbably paired Julie Andrews and Paul Newman, and feauturing a plot that only mildly entertains, TORN just isn't a very good film.

Hermann was sorely missed in this misfire, and the score suffers because of it. My favorite scene in the movie was the opera scene- it was photographed and edited well, even if some call foul on the "Fire!" gambit.

Its worth seeing and even a bit fascingating really, to see where and how Hitchcock went wrong.
