Review of Torn Curtain (1966) by Andrew — 10 Jun 2009
A respectable entry from Hitchcock.Paul Newman-solid as always heads up the cast.Julie Andrews isn't really given much to do here except play the concerned bride to be of Newman. The film moves rather nicely until a distracting run in with a foreigner in desperate need of sponsors for her visa.
That whole sequence feels like an oddity for oddities sake.A few memorable moments, the extended murder scene in the farmhouse being the standout. The only real villian of interest(Gromek)is dispatched of far too early in the film.
A minor work in the masters career.
