Review of Torn Curtain (1966) by Petter S — 29 Sep 2007
It isn't one of Hitchcock's better films--it's pretty by-the-numbers and never generates any real suspense. Andrews' character doesn't produce the sort of interest that she could have--there just wasn't enough depth to her; it barely felt as though she was in the film at all.
There are a few effective elements--the spy bus, and Lila Kedrova who, as a Polish countess, was damn near heartbreaking and criminally underused--but all in all it felt pretty disappointing.
