Review of Tora! Tora! Tora! (1970) by Nancy A — 26 May 2012
I used this every year in U.S. History classes for high school (beginning when it was first available on VHS). Students enjoyed and learned as they were able to become more personally involved with characters and events than with a text or lecture.
They also had to focus and pay attention to the subtitles. It was necessary to realize not everyone speaks English. And as for the "...propaganda and flag wavers of the 1940s", thank God they not only waved the flag but fought for it as well.
This is a film people have come to appreciate more as time has passed for its historical accuracy and its ability to let us glimpse the first of the days 'that will live in infamy.'.
