I can watch this movie over and over. Leigh has captured the spirit of the high Victorian age with all its arrogance and its insecurities. I have loved Gilbert & Sullivan since I was at university in the 1960s and I once directed a school production of The Mikado, so this movie has a particular resonance for me.
