The prequel is a legendary film. Some would say the prequel is a "bromance" film. Others point out how it is an important film to LGBT community. When Hollywood forces woke stuff on non-woke franchises, and the resulting story lacks integrity and characters, we often point out, they should create sequels to important "LGBT" stories, they should make films about real black characters, black history, etc.
as it can be done with taste, and can still lead to a good story. Top Gun: Maverick is a missed opportunity in this department. While the action and the visuals are great, it is a story supposedly about relationship, and with that it is a missed opportunity.
When "only the core of the movie is bad" that is an issue. As a modern day average action flick it would be excellent. As a continuation of Top Gun and a film that focuses on relationships? It is a huge missed opportunity.
