Review of Top Gun (1986) by Xxxxxxxxxx X — 08 Nov 2011
Hello everyone, I'm Baurushan. I went to see Top Gun and it wasn't great. It was awesome. This movie just blew my mind. Ok so the story goes like this. On March 3rd 1969, The United States Navy established an elite school for the top one percent of it's pilots.
It's purpose was to teach the last arts of aerial combat and to insure t\t this is something historical which is why the film is like art because it's very beautiful. Now we get to the main story where we bring in out hero Maverick played by the always amazing Tom "The King" Cruise with his fellow mate Goose played by Anthony Edwards.
They successfully go into Top Gun beating their other two mates Merlin and Cougar in a flight test where they meet some more pilots including Iceman, Slider, Jester, Viper and Hollywood. After the tragic death of Goose during Graduation Day, Maverick is weak and alone and mad at others for not understanding his pain and asks his leader Viper for help when finally they get into real aerial fighting mode.
Thinking of Goose's death, Maverick teams up with his old friend Merlin and with his other classmates Iceman and Slider and take down the planes. After the success, Iceman and Maverick become friends and Maverick throws his and Goose's chain into the sea as his rest in peace sign for Goose.
So there you have it, a straight up kickass-movie. Although There is one problem I have within 20 reviews, only half of them liked this movie and I'm still failing to understand why as there is only a 50%.
WHAT! but at least the fans voted for a higher than 80% which is good and saved my life. The soundtrack was heavily emotional at times, the drama was utterly breathtaking, the romance is so beautiful and the action sequences with the planes are so damn splendid that I couldn't describe them.
All the actors were brilliant especially Kelly McGillis and Anthony Edwards because I hope to see more of them in the future. And I'm still trying to work out how Tom Cruise and Director Tony Scott didn't get their Oscars? They were so damn amazing with their collaboration in the film.
Tom Cruise's acting is the complete utter best of the best and with the help of Tony Scott's direction who you may remember as brother of Director Ridley Scott really helps to get his direction shine in his movie.
This is probably the best Tony Scott film ever. Top Gun gets a 10/10.
