Review of Top Five (2014) by Matthew F. J — 11 Jan 2015
Top Five appears to be a volatile exercise from writer director Chris Rock but quickly turns into a modern, fluid and wonderful film filled with actual themes on interracial relationships, a wonderful study of celebrity and the forever question over the dynamic of love and its complicated imbrications.
Chris Rock is obviously very talented and manages to direct one of the coolest, smartest and funniest film of the year with a very light touch, a beautiful camera work and some incredible natural locations that will make you fall in love with NYC all over again.
A great and awesome surprise.
