Review of Top Five (2014) by Mikey M — 03 May 2015
Seeming more like its own personal rant rather than giving Hollywood what it demands Chris Rock shat out a tantrum of the pressures of being famous and mixed in a few genius one liners contrasted with some "rigorously honest" punches to the groin.
Top 5 disguises itself as a comedy but has some important messages about life as a celebrity and the expectations that come with it. Chris Rock's character perfectly mirrors himself as a mediocre at best comedian but mixes in the overlooked humanity associated with being under the spot light.
While the overall message is more vulnerable than Taylor Lautner's Career at the conclusion of the Twilight series, a considerable portion of the plot is more boring than a forced visit to Martha Stewart's condo.
