Review of Top Five (2014) by Nehemiah — 12 Oct 2019
This movie star's Chris Rock as a celebrity in New York City after his career has taken off. The movie begins by giving a glimpse of the celebrity life. Yet Rock's character doesn't forget his roots he comes back to see his family playes in part by Leslie Jones, Michael Che and Jay Pharoah.
New York is portrayed beautifully in the film while Rock's character deals with the stresses that come from where he is at after falling out of the industry and not seeming to havr the heart to break back in.
The turmoil culminates into him robbing a conviniece store for alcohol. While the movie ultimately has a happy ending for the protagonist, he does hit a low point towards the end. It's shortly followed by a strong cameo entrance in a club by Whoopi Goldberg and Jerry Seinfeild who act as if they grew up with Rock's character.
