A struggling actor with a bad eputation (Hoffman) changes his name from michael Dorsey to Dorothy Michaels and finds success as the fairer sex,starring in a popular soap opera. When he falls in love with a female co-star (Lange), he's forced to either keep it under his false breasts, or come clean and turn himself into a national laughing stock.
