Review of Tootsie (1982) by Alex K — 17 Sep 2009
Dustin Hoffman dressing up like a woman! What a concept. It works on paper. And on film. Tootsie manages to be a lot of things, and succeeds at all of them. It's witty, it's heartfelt, and it's very, very entertaining.
Arguably the greatest work from the late, great Sydney Pollack, this movie is solidified by Dustin Hoffman's absolutely phenomenal performance. When I wasn't thinking about it, I actually believed I was watching a woman sometimes.
That's very impressive. Truly it is a great film and a crossdressing masterpiece.
