Review of Tootsie (1982) by Lonette982 H — 30 Mar 2009
Very funny movie!!!
Dustin Hoffman is an amazing actor! I have seen very few movies with him but what does that matter? He's Oscar great and that's been stated in most of his movies!
Any way, I didn't see the the begining first and really thought Dorothy was a woman .A shrewd, proud, good woman. The jokes and quirky moments made me giggle even after seeing it three time in a week!
Micheal (Hoffman's characters) is a moody actor that plays a woman with passion, like any actor. Didn't like his Love interest; she was in too much denial. His blonde gal-friend was great. The poor, insecure girl's blow-outs never stopped being funny. Bill Murray was his roomate; he watched in annoyed amusement and had good lines.
The director played an unflawed jerk. the older male co-worker's scene was great! the part where he comes to Dorothy (after his love interest's father proposed to him) begs, sings and almost rapes Micheal!
This was Geena Davis's first movie, you'd barely remember her though.
I adored when Dorothy took off his wig and said "I'm Edward Kimberly!" ,Everyone had hilarious reactions! then I thought it was good the he/she was on a Soap Opera. I hoped they kept him on it...probably didn't, I the reasons he couldn't stay Dorothy. Still wish she would come back!
I didn't like the end. Dorothy/ Micheal reconnects with his love interest in a pleasant, unfunny way.
