Review of Tooth and Nail (2007) by Jonathan Y — 04 Jan 2009
A gory post-apocalyptic tale of embattled humanity versus leather-clad, sharp-fanged cannibals armed with spiked baseball bats and meat cleavers, 'Tooth and Nail' is a throwback to the sort of violent punks-amuck chiller that was all the rage back in the 1980s.
Despite numerous rough edges, clunky performances (slumming thesp Michael Madsen all but phones in his brief role as a hungry cannibal) and some weird lapses in logic, it still manages to be fairly tense and entertaining, a sort of splatterpunk 'Mad Max' meets 'Lord of the Flies' done on the cheap.
