Review of Toolbox Murders (2004) by Loyda S — 13 Sep 2006
This comeback movie for Tobe Hooper is simple, bloody and good. There is nothing special to this film, the acting is mediocre, the story is average but Hooper manages to scrape a decent film through the rubbish script.
The twist is predictable and leaves you wondering if the killer is immortal, or just really lucky. I suppose it was a little better than what I thought it would be, but it is still not a great movie.
Unfortunately it appears that Tobe Hooper's career is going down the toilet.
The whole idea of the killer in a balaclava is a little more effective than hockey masks, and the death scenes are well directed. Who knows? Tobe Hooper may have a few more blockbuster movies to come!
