Review of Tony Takitani (2004) by Julian M — 21 Jul 2008
I really don't know if its good or not. It was very slow though. And had a definite atmosphere about it. This was built up by the slow narrator and the characters finishing off his sentences. And the whole sound production was very sparse with each sound very deliberate in addition to some sad solo piano music by Sakamoto.
It is based upon a short story by Haruki Murakami but doesn't have his normal fantasy elements. However, I guess it has the bleakness and emptiness of his writing and an offbeat protagonist.
