Review of Tomorrowland (2015) by Craig F — 24 Oct 2015
Frank's opening narration hurts the story early on and although the film ignores the primary threat for most of the film, Casey's story has enough intrigue to carry the movie for the first hour before we meet Frank.
There are little things that don't work, like Athena only uses her x-ray vision when it suits the story, but it helps that the script is self aware, and as Frank says, "Do I have to explain everything? Can't you just be amazed and move on?" Ultimately the film should have been an hour longer as the final act in particular feels far too rushed and open ended in the face of the apocalypse.
Fantastic world building and atmosphere from Brad Bird and another great score from Giacchino, caught that cameo as well.
