Review of Tomorrow, When the War Began (2010) by Matthew R — 03 Sep 2010
I had not read the book, even though I really wanted to. But I found it to be an interesting and good film. The cast is not badly picked, of course like all new teenage actors doing a film like this, it's no surprise their acting needs experience.
The main actress Caitlin Stasey is the one that goes all for it and doesn't hold anything back. With Stuart Beattie screenwriter for the first Pirates of the Caribbean directing this the screenplay is impressive.
If you enjoyed the 1980's film Red Dawn, then you will probably get more out of this than you did with that film. It's a thriller, more than it is an action ( of course including a big explosion near the finale) This is only just the set up for a bigger film to follow.
Me personally I would read the rest of the books just to see how it goes, than consider if I want to see if the next one comes out in the cinemas.
