Review of Tomorrow, When the War Began (2010) by Cameron A — 11 Sep 2010
As someone who read the entire series during early years of high school, I guess I had a curious interest more than anything else in finally seeing this make it to the big screen, given it's been in development for so long.
The acting is wildly uneven- at times decidedly less than convincing. But the film's overall look and camera work is far more slick and easy to watch than most Aussie films *who, to be fair, have a much lower budget).
The action sequences were more effective than expected and a number of pursuit scenes were surprisingly suspenseful. They're clearly setting up for a series of sequels here, but that will all depend on how successful (or not) this film is.
It's also very faithful to the novel, which is a welcome change as well really.
