Review of Tomorrow, When the War Began (2010) by Andrew C — 12 Sep 2010
With a bunch of "Neighbours" and "Home and Away" actors, the easiest thing to criticise is the performances, but they're not all bad. A lot of the film rests on Caitlin Stasey's shoulders and she actually does a decent job.
Some of the minor characters are very irritating (Exhibit A: Fiona aka. "the hot one"), but you get the impression the main problem is the dialogue rather than the the acting talent. Perhaps the real issue is that these group of teenagers don't seem like a believable group of friends.
Further explanation of how they came to know each other may have helped, but then again the film can get a bit tedious so a longer introduction before the action begins may have actually hurt it more than anything.
