Review of Tomorrow, When the War Began (2010) by Roger R — 23 Sep 2010
A much better film than I thought it would be. Essentially a coming of age film with a difference its main strengths are the solid performances by a good ensemble cast and excellent visual style with possibly the best use of the Blue Mountains I have ever seen.
Moreover, by being unashamedly Australian, it will succeed in being a film with international appeal. My main criticism was of the at times intrusive music which at times defused tension. Definitely worth a look.
I kept thinking how much better it was that what the yanks would have done, but for their country to have been invaded would have meant pretty much global nuclear annihilation - so a hard one for them to steal - great references to other action/ post apocalyptic films.
