Review of Tomorrow, When the War Began (2010) by Dj J — 26 Dec 2010
This was...interesting, even if rather unrealistic. What I loved most about it was how well it portrayed people who have to make a violent transition, people who have to take action, face the concequences, be their own person. Very allegorical and rebellious and fitting to our times.
The characters are very appealing (the portrayal of the Greek character was quite successful!) and, even if I haven't read the book, I can pretty much tell it was a good adaptation. Partly teenage romance, partly war movie, partly drama - this Australian (relative) blockbuster combines all you'd ever wish to see from a movie of the kind. The title itself is very attention-getting. Loved the direction, photography and soundtrack.
Certainly not a movie I'll remember, or one of Australia's best moments, but it's worth giving a chance to.
And it could really do with a better poster.
