Review of Tomorrow, When the War Began (2010) by Ting L — 07 Dec 2011
I haven't read the book, so I will comment on the film as it is. I suppose the film is blessed with a great story idea from John Marsden. It is a brilliant idea.
Tomorrow is a great Aussie teen film. You get to see the characters develop throughout the movie. It would be hard for them to focus on eight characters, but the characters do change convincingly.
Cinematography and pacing-wise, it is simplistic in a good way, just right. However, I feel some of the action scenes can do with a bit more faster editing.
It's worth a watch for a Hollywood-esque Australian production. Really enjoyable, and found myself being attached to the characters. Pretty believable acting by the young cast (adults barely have much screen time). It definitely changed my opinions of teen films.
