Review of Tombstone (1993) by Vincent O — 20 Jan 2012
By far the most exciting and vibrant western to emerge out of the 90's. George ('Rambo') Cosmatos completely overshadowed Costner's own 'W. Earp' in the same year. Excellent details, with the reconstruction of 'Tombstone' and a little known fact that cowboys indeed wore bright silks.
Val Kilmer is superb as Doc Holiday (should have won an Oscar) and you get a decent history lesson with this, being an exciting version of true life events. Although the famous fight is more accurate In Costner's 'W.
Earp', this is heads and tails better. Just superb and a perfect piece of film making.
