Review of Tomboy (2011) by Carreh R — 19 Aug 2012
This was a very good movie about what it is like to be a child wanting to be the opposite sex of who they were physically born as. It depicts well what trans people go through in their early years. The movie doesn't bring up the possibility of sex change options; however Mikael / Laure is a bit young so adults wouldn't entertain the idea as they'd want to wait until Mikael / Laure is older and able to make a more "mature" decision.
My guess is that Mikael / Laure's best solution is a sex change. She obviously is more than just a tomboy she is a boy in a girl's body. I think the Director did a great job of depicting that and Zoe Heran was awesome as Mikael / Laure.
