Review of Tomboy (2011) by L B — 07 Dec 2013
It was very sweet and a film with good intention. However, it lacked in the interest factor and in substance. Films are meant to catch the viewers interest and keep it. There were times with nothing but silence, and it moved very slow.
It gets awkward to watch people standing around with nothing at all to say for too long and this movie did that frequently. At the end, we are left with nothing, did they forgive her? Did Lisa accept Laure as a girl and still want to be with her or did she completely give those feelings up because Laure was not male? There were so many places in this film with silence where we could have delved into the thoughts of the characters more.
Specifically Laure and her sister. It had so much more potential than this and it honestly let me down. Yes it was a sweet film, but it could have been so much better.
