Review of Tomb Raider (2018) by Blacksun — 31 May 2018
It starts out strong, with good character building. I had high hopes at first. But as soon as they get to the island, it flips on you and turns in to "generic bad action movie". The pacing gets all wonky, the plot turns to mush, character's motivations are uncertain and action sequences become ridiculous.
It's too bad, I wanted to like it, as I like Tomb Raider in general. In the end to me it just felt like a rushed out origin story so they can reboot the franchise... again. Oh, and there's scenes where they clearly are making callbacks to moments in the games.
Which felt odd. I like the games, but I expect more from the movies, not a re-enacted game.
