Review of Tomb Raider (2018) by Mateus Z — 17 Mar 2018
This is a really good movie. It sets up Lara Croft, beautifully crafts her as a normal day girl, Alicia Vikander only adds up to this beloved character, making her even more interesting and loveable. The action scenes are well put together, and different to what we are used to seeing in big screen spectacles, the action in this movie feels soulfull, with a heart pumping, they're powefull but then again simple.
We can tell the C.G.I is there, but the built sets and the simplicity of the crafting of the action scenes take over any flaws. The father and daughter moments are touching and believable, it flows the story forward.
I wish this movie had a better rating from critics, it truly makes me start thinking that it is purely prejudice against video game movies, as they all seem to bring the subject up, rather then just looking at the movie for what it is.
A well acted, beautifully crafted and plotted action adventure, coming of age small flick, where not everything is perfect and shiny, but Alicia Vikander shines so bright like a diamond. Go see it...it's worth it.
