Review of Tomb Raider (2018) by Joe B — 11 Jun 2018
Alicia Vikander turned in a great performance without much help from the supporting cast. Being based off a video game the action and story was very video gamey bland. From the camera angles to the fight sequences it felt as if someone was pressing the X and Y button.
There was an emphasis on choking out one's foe, which got very repetitive as the movie went on. Tomb Raider is a step in the right direction for video game based movies, but doesn't quite cut it in the upper action movie epsilon.
Not a ton of humor, this movie set a rather serious tone similar to the game. What was great about this movie is how the directors and Vikander portrayed Croft. Lara came across as a smart, strong, agile badass.
