Review of Tom Jones (1963) by Rob F — 02 Sep 2007
A celebration of life. I came across the last 20 minutes of this on TV coming home late one night and so was caught unawares. Looked up the Dryden's translation of Horace at the end and learned it by heart.
"Happy the man and happy he alone, He who can call today his own." Read Fielding's original. The film captures it perfectly, but there is more of it. Like a warm smile reaching across 3 centuries.
