Review of Tokyo Sonata (2008) by Jason J — 24 Oct 2010
It offered a little bit of everything of what makes a good drama, conflict, loss, humour and as most wonderful foreign movies do best, a twist. It goes to show that in moments of greatest pain and despair there exists opportunity and joy it is just a matter to being open to it, if not it will quite certainly lead to self-destruction.
The power and resilience of relationships either they be friends, lovers or family. It touches on the folly of over-pride and honour and the duty of a family to one another to come together during times of turmoil. Maybe the most powerful symbol that of communion around a simple dinning room table where discord is replaced by a simple meal.
