Review of Tokyo Godfathers (2003) by Joel T — 02 Mar 2008
A trio of homeless oddballs find a baby abandoned in the trash on Christmas, and set off to find the baby's mother... it's an animated movie which has much the same feel as the screwball comedies of the '30s and '40s, and a dark, drab palette reflecting the dirt and grit of homeless life.
The plot places a rather heavy emphasis on unlikely coincidences; during the course of the day, all three of the homeless people have chance encounters with people from their past and come to terms with the circumstances which put them out on the street.
