Review of Tokyo Godfathers (2003) by Late R — 17 Aug 2017
It may not be quite as complex or serious as some of Satoshi Kon's other works, but it is certainly every bit as entertaining as we follow around our charismatic, homeless trio as they experience event after event of seemingly divine intervention whilst on a journey to put things right for an abandoned baby they find on a cold, Winter's night and, in the process, find some peace of their own from their troubled pasts.
With a number of great messages, expressive animation and a wild story (one that may require quite a bit of suspension of disbelief), 'Tokyo Godfathers' is a fun watch with a big feel-good factor, although its religious undertones may put some off.
