Review of Tokyo Drifter (1966) by Jonathan M — 07 Apr 2008
A big letdown for me after seeing Suzuki's hilarious and oddball "Branded To Kill." Aside from the surreal ending and great use of colors, this is a by-the-numbers 60's yakuza flick, right down to the dated musical bits.
There's still some campy retro appeal, but no more than with any of its contemporaries, and to call it a great movie would be a big stretch.
