Review of To the Wonder (2013) by Jerem M — 12 Aug 2013
I can see why some critics didn't like this one from acclaimed director Terrence Malick - and even went as far as to call it self-parody - but I liked To the Wonder. It can be a little over-indulgent in its imagery - almost as if Malick is trying out-Malick himself - but it's beautiful nonetheless.
Kind of a stream of pretty shots that need to be taken in, and not over-analyzed. As always, the cinematography dazzles. There is scant dialogue - it's primarily voice-over- but what there is is touchingly poetic.
Recommended for Malick fans.
