Review of To the Wonder (2013) by Phillip M — 25 Aug 2013
I'm a huge Malick fan but this has to be his weakest film, though it is still very powerful. I give the message of this film 5 stars, but it gets 4 stars overall due to its repetitive flow. I can appreciate the beauty of running through wheat fields but after a while it gets kind of old.
All in all this film connected with my soul, especially the priest. I believe the priest parts could've been a movie on its own, but I did enjoy the comparisons of love between all the characters.
This film will not change my mind about Malick as one the best modern directors. He doesn't just make movies, he makes art that will resonate with some but not all.
