Review of To the Wonder (2013) by Tor M — 03 Oct 2013
Like "TTOL" in many ways - floating, open and soft film with amazing colors. It features a hot and playful french woman and Ben Affleck of all people. This film makes you think, tasting their words, their sentences. It's much like a poem in both words and pictures, acted out with body language and added words. Many won't even call it a movie I guess, it's so vague, untypical, but still so very pretty, some of the still images are so mesmerizing that I could stare for minutes straight.
Of course it's well captured - loads of movement, but always controlled. It has a tiny downer period someplace in the middle, but it gets back on track towards the end. Themes here can be the lack of love and the overload of love, but I'm not really sure if there are threads to catch in this film, but I got my own solution at least.
You won't get an answer or a straight message. This is a sedative, abstract piece, not made for everyone, but for many of us.
7.5 out of 10 pretty things.
